The Open Road has a policy of continual improvement, not just in our levels of customer service but also with the quality of our cars.  When our cars were built in the 1960s and 1970s they were never rust proofed or undersealed from new.  So no matter how well we look after them they are always at risk from the ravages of the English climate.
We use the quiet winter months to fully service all our cars and each year we normally repaint at least one car.  This year to keep them in the condition that we require, we sent two of our cars off to the paintshop - our 1961 Jaguar Mk2 and our 1966 Ford Mustang.  Both of them had  a few rust spots appearing in the places that normally afflict classic cars - the wheal arches and the bottom of the doors
Repainted and refurbished Jaguar Mk2Where there was any rust, this was cut out and repair sections welded in before the cars were properly prepared and then fully repainted.  On the Ford Mustang the bodyshop decided that the best way to stop the doors rusting again was to replace the door skins instead of just patching them up.  New door skins were shipped over from the US and the new steel fitted and painted.
Both cars now look absolutely pristine and to bring the interior of the Jaguar Mk2 to the same standard, we had a set of interior panels made up and fitted, and re-varnished most of the woodwork.

At the same time we installed a modern radio complete with MP3 and USB connections.

So for 2010 why not treat yourself to a day or weekend out in either an immaculate Mk2 Jaguar or 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback.
